My Candidates Win!

Yay! Majority of my candidates won in 2010 Barangay Election!I didn't vote straight for the admin though.I picked only those I know who could really serve.I have the chance to be with most of them since I spent five years in our barangay for being one of the SK councilors in 2002.In our term, I was able to identify the good and the bad ones.I recognize who has a heart for the people and who acts arrogant for having a position.

The three aspiring barangay captains were all incumbent barangay councilors. At first it was hard to choose among them but I immediately made up my mind after listening to them in election rallies.

I am happy with the result. It only means that the people in my barangay know how to vote wisely by choosing the right people.Congratulations to our newly elected barangay captain Eleneo "Boy Isda" Layese and his councilors!I'm expecting them to go around to thank the people and do some clean-up to get rid of the campaign materials just like what we did in the past.

Barangay Election 2010

I hear the same news during election period.Election violence, vote buying and late arrival of election paraphernalia is not new to me.A Surigao councilor was shot dead yesterday.Regions 1, 2, 5, 6 and 10, and the Cordillera Autonomous Region may hold election tomorrow.I witnessed a person opened a small envelop with a bill and sample ballot. Some people told me to be sneaky yesterday because I might get something from the running candidates.Sorry but they can't buy my vote.

COMELEC assured the public that everything is ready for Barangay and SK election 2010.However, in some areas in the Philippines such as Caloocan and Albay the election has been delayed too and the president is discontented with the  delays.

It's good to know that PNP and AFP secure peaceful election this year but unexpected and uncontrollable occurrences happen.Voting was suspended in particular municipalities of Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur.Tomorrow there would be no classes to give time for teachers to rest.

Barangay is the basic political unit in the Philippines. It is led by a barangay captain and his  council with seven members. Each barangay has Sangguniang Kabataan or SK Chairperson with seven SK councilors.I used to be part of SK from 2002 to 2007.

The main duty of the barangay officials is to maintain peace and order, provide livelihood programs, keep the cleanliness and implement infrastructures. It's the SK's obligation on the other hand to encourage young people to take part in barangay activities and make them active in sports, environmental issues, moral recovery programs and drug prevention.

I just voted. It was easy to find my name and precinct number.May the candidates I chose win.Hopefully, tonight results will be released and winners will be proclaimed!

Barangay and SK Election 2010

Today marks the official start of the campaign period for Barangay and SK Election 2010.I wasn't sure of who's going to run in our barangay. Now I see campaign posters anywhere and I was surprised to see some of them! I didn't know that they're into politics.I want to see their handbills, read their platform and know their aim for the barangay.

Different issues were brought about the said election.I thought the election will be reset.I'm satisfied when I heard that on October 25, 2010 there's going to be Barangay and SK Election. Postponing the election will give more chances for fake public servants to abuse their power. People who want change would be unhappy if extension will be given to unworthy leaders.

From October 1-13 aspiring candidates filed their Certificate of Candidacy or COC.Last August 13, I went to COMELEC to check my name and precinct number. Moreover, gun ban rules were released to ensure the safety of October 25 election.

I'm expecting election rallies on the coming days. I know there are certain individuals who are willing to help improve our barangay and I recognize those who run for money and power.I'm aware of how the politics works in my country.

New Philippines: Aquino-Binay Proclamation

Today is a historical day in the Philippines. We had just proclaimed our duly elected Vice President Jejomar Binay and President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.With the joint session of Senate of the Philippines and House of Representatives, the two were officially proclaimed earlier today.

It had been twelve (12) days of canvassing before the said proclamation. Despite the discrepancies of the first automated election in the Philippines, 2010 Election was done and result has been laid.

I’ve just seen the Aquin0-Binay Proclamation held at Batasan Pambansa through the television and it filled me with serenity and joy that these newly-elected leaders of my country will formally start their job and do what they have to as what they’ve promised during the campaign period.

Hon. Aquino III will be taking his place at Malacañang Palace on July 1.However, details on his inauguration is not yet finalized and announced. He is the first Philippine president who is a bachelor.Filipinos are speculating if we are expecting a presidential wedding in his term since he has got Shalani Soledad in his side to be give back the love that he’s giving her.

After being proclaimed, President Noynoy had his first press conference. In his interview he said the first step that should be done is identifying the problems to be able to come up with good solutions .For him, inventory is first needed in order to find suitable ways in resolving them.He added that he would look on the employment. He’s going to make sure that the rights of the Filipinos working overseas are protected and not violated. He doesn’t like the idea of venturing other countries because of force necessity. In addition, he was firm when he said he’s not living in Malacañang Palace. He’s still thinking and accepting suggestions on where he would reside.

One of the good things I like that the newest president had said is the idea of reconciliation and even working with his running mates which will eventually lead us all to our longed changed.According to him, he’s willing to work hand and hand with people with experties, knowledge, dedication and heart for people even if they had worked for the previous administration. In his statement, Aquino’s retaining the current PNP chief. The bottomline is he’s more on the interest of the majority rather than personal vengeance. The aim of his administration is to uplift the least Filipino people that has been the common propaganda of all the presidents. We will be as fulfilled as him when this priority is make into a reality in his six-year term.

I’m one of the millions who is proud of his political victory. We wouldn’t want to have a president like Erap or Villar. Though Gibo lost in the race Noynoy has Binay! My first choice didn’t make it but Aquino is our second bet and it’s not bad to have him. We know that he’d take care the legacy of his parents: the late Senator Benigno Aquino and former president Corazon Aquino. I hope and pray that we are really starting our way to real sustainable progress and development. It's good to hear that Kris promised to behave as well. She wishes not to give Noy stress and headache.
God bless the Philippines.

Maguindanao Massacre

The violence that took place last Monday, November 23, 2009 in Ampatuan Maguindanao only proves how wicked and evil these people in my country are. They are the ones who are always hungry for power! In the pursuit of their own goals civilians are the most affected ones. The MAGUINDANAO MASSACRE makes me hate some people in the Philippines! I may not mention who they are. The public may not prove or punish the brain and perpetrators of the crime.Yet deep in our innermost being we recognize the people behind this killing. In addition, the recent situation in Maguindanao shows how poor the security is. The undying and rising unsolved crimes in that area continue to happen since the local authority itself isn't sure if they have to choose justice to prevail or keep their mouth shut to spare their lives.
The master mind of Ampatuan Massacre as other people say wants the press to stop taking coverage that's why he/she included the helpless media men. That cruel person tries to convey us how evil he is by executing a criminal act two days before the commemoration of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.Perhaps he wants the media and government officials to fear him. Many people can't help solve the crime. I'd say the justice system in the Philippines is weak and incompetent if they couldn't imprison the people who are responsible for the death of more than 50 people. We'll see how the government finds immediate answer to it.It's a test for Arroyo's administration to sort this all out. Yahoo News on Maguindanao Massacre Philippine Star on Maguindanao Massacre ABSCBN on Maguindanao Massacre PGMA's Statement In Mindanao area, violence is no longer a surprise. It only gets worse if election is at hand. It's always been a rivalry between clans. I feel excruciating pain thinking about this kind of phenomenon. That in spite of the modern lives that we have, it exists. This is such a shocking event for us in the sense that nobody among us hopes for this thing to happen. It's sad to say this but personally, I'm one of those Filipino people who are not hopeful for the success of the murder case since there were a lot of cases that happened in the country that remain unsolved. What annoys me now is the fact that the candidates for next year's election are more worried about the cancellation of 2010 Philippine Election! Isn't it clear that they're more interested in their own desires than help solve the current problem in the island of Mindanao. It's truly a serious one that the government officials should be concerned about! The death of those pitiful victims in a Muslim area marks the onset of 2010 Philippine Election It has just started...this is just the beginning... Condolence to the families who lost a love one....

Using Automated Voting Machines in the 2010 Philippine Election

I go with this idea. For one, teachers and volunteers' lives are spare specially in Muslim areas. They give their time and effort to peacefully exercise this right. But fate is always with them. Most of them are threatened and if they don't give the wants of evil people it's easy for them to put their guns in front of the poor victims and hit the trigger! Isn't it unfair and a sign of social injustice!? I read an article before about the advantages and disadvantages of using Automated Voting Machines in Philippine Election this coming 2010.It stressed that if there's a will, there's a way.No matter what the process of counting the votes if a person wants to win, he'll do everything it takes to get what he craves for! As of today, there are people who are really good at software programs. Now that we are experiencing great financial crisis, a person can even betray his country and give up his dignity in exchange of money that is needed for his family. This phenomena could have been prevented if poverty is not at hand!We can't deny the fact that corruption in my country is high. It's sad to know about this. So I guess the best thing to do is for every Filipino to give their best in everything we do. 2010 Presidential Election is fast approaching.I'm now completing my list of possible candidates who are going to be my bets.I'm calling for every Filipino citizen to support the country in this period.
