Fun in Unity

Last week, the students along with their parents, teachers and staff of Academy of Multiple Intelligences Education of Davao went to Forest Hill Resort to experience camaraderie, friendship and fun among ourselves with the theme "There's fun in unity". There's a short informal program and games that kids enjoyed playing.

The resort's location is not so far from the school. It's nice to see the kids enjoy the slides. There's enough space for everyone and you can see a lot of tables around. Forest Hill is big enough to accommodate us all. They've got two swimming pools; one with the slides and the other one is six-foot deep.

To have an outdoor activity like this strengthens the student-teacher relationship. This is the moment when learners set aside their academic lessons and learn how to socialize with their fellow students. It was indeed a fun day for everybody.

House of Hope

As part of the eight year celebration of my niece's preparatory school which is Tumble Tots, kindergarten and prep students are invited to take part in the inauguration of the Library project in House of Hope built inside the perimeter of Southern Philippines Medical Center. They are encourage to be there to develop their social awareness and concern for other kids who are less fortunate.

They had story telling inside the mini library. They are flipping the pages of the books. Young minds are normally happy to see new set of books. The tots and the kids in the center are happy to see Tumby- the school's mascot and enjoyed the snacks together. I always feel good to be in this kind of institution. I am thankful I have the chance to be there.

Teaching is an Art

A month ago I had an unpleasant experience at school. It was really awful and it needed a genuine strength to keep me hanging. One of my students got to my nerve.I could see how confused was he because he wasn't listening to me.Every time I talk he starts talking as well. I don't know if he recognizes the word "listen". I gave him the freedom to ask me anything with regards to our lessons but what pissed me off is he reads in advance! I was still discussing the first part and he was already thinking about the latter! As a result, he couldn't fully understand our lesson. Thus, leading himself to confusion and end up getting much stress daily. That's what he complains everyday.

classroom

I don't want my students to have a hard time in dealing with our lessons. That's why I teach them the easier and more precise way to get rid of such pain;mentally or physically.Every time I have this kind of situation I come to think about the kind of profession that I currently practice.

Why did I take this course? Do I really love the nature of my job? Is teaching the perfect career for me to sustain? These are the usual questions that bother me.

I do self-healing instead and take these bad times as my challenges to take as a mentor.People differ. So are their pace in learning.I can't expect my students to have the same level like they're all smart.I just think that they're here to mold me as a teacher.

Teaching is an art. It requires teacher's unique and immeasurable strategies in order to reach the learning goals. It greatly depends on us on how good we are in dealing with these kind of classroom problems. Some students claim that they're intelligent and equipped but the fact is they're not. Moreover, proper approach is a great tool to relieve such problems.
Teacher's ability to achieve the set aims despite of the inadequacy of resources and suchlike allows teaching to be coined as a form of an art.

People can teach anybody but not all can do so effectively.

Den @ British School

The nature of my brother-in-law's job allows his family to move from place to place.Sometimes my sister prefers to spend a few months in the country. Now, that they're currently staying in Mildenhall,England my niece is now enrolled in a British school.

kid-at-school

The school year has just begun and Denise is happy to meet her new teacher. When they arrived in Britain a teacher suggested to my sister to send her daughter as early as possible though the school year is about to end.The purpose of doing so is to give my niece early exposure to the new environment she's joining. That's to help my niece to be familiar with her fellow learners and recognize some teachers as well.

Denise is going at St. Mary's.It's a Christian school which is located near their household.Being in that learning institution reassures the parents that their children are not only filled with academic excellence but molded with proper teachings when it comes to spiritual life.

Since she's with the British kids she needs to practice and work on her speaking skills. We don't worry much about it though. After all people tend to adapt to its environment.Though she needs adjustments, I know she can do it!

My first niece (on the left of the above photo) is a smart and pretty little girl just like her mom.My mom is happy to know that she likes her new home, her new school and new friends.I feel good about her current situation. In their videos we learned that she wants to stay in England and just pay a visit in the Philippines. They keep sending us photos and videos so we are updated with their activities though we're miles away.I'm certain that she finds happiness that she's together with her own family.
